Children & Families Team -
VCS Safeguarding
The role of the VCS Safeguarding Partnership is to bring a collective Voluntary and Community Sector input to the Local Safeguarding Children Board, in addition and in support of the Representative we have from the Sector on that Board.
In general terms the group was set up:
- To identify and promote areas where multi-agency practice is seen to be good or better and to arrange for the dissemination of this information to partner agencies, organisations and practitioners.
- To enable a voice for the sector with regard to Safeguarding and working with vulnerable children, young people and parents.
- To be used as a forum to discuss challenges and new policies relating to child protection to ensure a co ordinate approach to workforce development and strategic planning.
This group is a partner group of the VCS Engagement Partnership and currently will meet on an ad hoc basis. Terms of Reference are being refined.
The group has the support of the Local Safeguarding Children Board and reports through the Executive of the LSCB, and the Engagement Partnership.
Resources are currently being sought to enable VAST to support this group effectively alongside the Engagement Partnership.
