Children & Families Team -
Parenting Strategy

The Think Family Implementing Change Group (ICG) has now replaced the Parenting ICG and Family Support ICG and are in the process of developing a new THINK FAMILY Strategy.

The Parenting Strategy was developed after a Parent Speak-Out event highlighted the need for a strategic overview of parenting support across the City. It was developed by the multi-agency Parenting Strategy Group together with parents and produced in 2007.

Five Action Plans were written to develop work around the challenges identified in the Strategy and these were linked into the Every Child Matters Outcomes as well as reflecting the Children and Young People’s Plan for the City.

Parents have been involved with the Parenting Strategy throughout the process and continue to work with the Action Plan groups to make sure that developments are centres around the needs of children, young people, parents and carers.

The first Annual Review of the strategy highlighted the work so far and the priorities for the future. The Parenting Strategy is currently under review and will be out in March 2010.
